Roppongi

Muse

Usually attracting very international customers, Muse has a perpetually crowded dance floor, karaoke rooms, pool tables, table tennis, and also darts. The variety of things you can do here is nice (especially considering the comparatively reasonable entrance fee) for having options besides drinking, trying to talk to people over loud club music, and pretending to dance or at least being amused by others doing so as seems common internationaly in many clubs. Women usually pon't pay a cover.

Admission: ¥ 1000 - 2000

Hours: 7 pm - 4 am Sunday - Thursday, 5 am Friday and Saturday

 

Club 328

Has a quality variety of DJs playing funk, hip-hop, reggae and other styles appropriate for dancing and boozing the night away with your friends. Usually a large crowd of both Japanese and non-Japanese.

Admission: ¥ 2000 - ¥ 2500

Space Lab Yellow

A good place for lovers of Electronica and techno-hypnotic acid jazz style music. The inside has a very unique atmosphere. It's a simple basement style dark dance floor.

Salsa Sudada

As the name suggests, this is a place for Salsa dancers and people who want to learn. Lessons are available for beginners on Sunday nights. It's very popular with salsa dancers from the Tokyo area and from numerous countries as you might expect.

This laid back basement space plays international trance music for barefoot customers.

Vanilla

Three dance floors with an interesting variety of music. There's also not usually much of a gaijin crowd here, so if you want to hang out with the locals and force yourself to practice some Japanese late in the night, this might be the place.

SHIBUYA

 

Ruby Room

A popular night time hang out for those who love to hang out in Shibuya. It's located behind the 109 building. Which can be found after crossing the street in the direction of the starbucks and then walking left after exiting the Shibuya Jr train station at the Hachiko exit. They often play live music in addition to skilled DJs. Admission includes a free drink.

Club Asia

This is a rather large techno and Soul club popular with young people. There's also a restaurant here serving south east Asian food.

Admission: ¥ 2500

Hours: 11 pm - 5 pm

 

Womb

Womb is one of Tokyo's most popular dance clubs. Many talented international DJs come through here usually playing a variety of techno and house beats. It consists of 4 floors, with bars on each of course, an enormous dance floor on the first floor, high quality lazer lighting and sound system too. A fun feature here is you can write messages on a touch screen in the bathroom and it will be visible in the bathroom of the opposite sex.

Admission: usually ¥ 2000 - ¥ 4000

Hours: 10 pm - 5 am Thursday to Saturday

Club Atom

This club has two quality sized dance floors. the fourth floor usually offers Hip Hop and R&B while the fifth floor offers popular trance and house music.

Hours: 9pm - 5 am

Admission: ¥ 3000 includes 2 drinks.

 

Ageha

An enormous club with 3 dance floors, a pool, numerous bars and places to relax. Many International DJs come through here playing house, reggae and techno. A large stage connected to the main dance floor often displays musical performances, and another stage with pole dancers. There is a secret room near the women's restroom for women only selling vibrators, and sexual manga.

Admission: usually about  ¥ 4000

Hours: 11 pm - 5 am Thursday - Saturday

Location: This club is a little far from central Tokyo so Ageha offers a free bus every half hour from Shibuya. It boards at the beginning of Roppongi Street, just accross from Shibuya Station. Be prepared to show your ID to board the bus, you must be at least 20 years old. Ageha is also a 25 minute train ride from Shibuya station. From Shibuya, Take the JR Saikyo Line to Osaki for 150 yen. Then change to Rinkai Line and get off at Shinkiba, which is 380 yen. Ageha is located North of the Shinkiba Train Station.

 

Shinjuku

Izm

a somewhat hidden club in Shinjuku's infamous red light district, Kabukicho. Plays mostly Hip Hope, Japanese Reggae, and R & B, Attracting very young customers.

Hours: 10 pm - 5 am

Admission:  ¥ 2000 Monday - Thursday. ¥ 2500 Friday - Saturday, inlcludes 1 drink.

Location: Kabukicho. leave Shinjuku station from the East Exit for yamanote, Chuo and Sobu Lines.

 

Open

A very Reggae oriented club. It's a very friendly small place.

Hours: 5 pm - 5 am

Admission: ¥1000 - ¥1500 includes 1 drink.

Location: near Shinjuku-Gyoenmae Station via Shinjuku gate exit

 

Oto

Oto is the Japanese word for sound and it is an appropriate name for this little club with a sound system fit for any large dance club. They play a lot of Hip Hop and Techno here. All drinks cost about ¥ 700, which is reasonable compared to other places, but if you just want a drink, go to a convenience store.

Hours: 10 pm - 5 am

Admission: ¥ 2000
